Plentong River, Johor Bahru

Almost the estuary of the river, meet up with Pandan River.......
There's residential area beside this river, if I'm not mistaken......Bayu Tebrau Apartment.

Many peoples love to fishing along this river during weekend.

For me, it's just another 'nature beauty' (exclude the rubbish!). You will feel calm & peaceful over here, I just took out my portable chair and find a place below tree.....relax & enjoy the scenery.
After a week frustrated work, it's a good idea that you can bring your family for short picnic. Hopefully the local authority will do something here for a 'Clean' and beautiful river bank of Plentong.
This river also given a lot of inconvenience to the residents at Plentong during the Flood last year in Johor. It swipes away everything and has make many families homeless!
The nature has a beauty and also ugly, it's depends how humans manage it......

Plans to build on Jewish cemetery in Ukraine halted

JTA runs a brief story stating that the US Embassy intervention helped halt plans to build two high rises on the site of the Jewish cemetery in Vinnitza, Ukraine. See the story HERE.

More than 700 Jewish cemeteries (or sites of Jewish cemeteries) are scattered around Ukraine. I visited a number of them when researching the new edition of "Jewish Heritage Travel."

Most Jewish cemeteries in Ukraine are abandoned, and even those where there are Jewish communities are often very neglected. Many cemeteries have had their tombstones uprooted. The cemeteries in western Ukraine in particular are noted for the intricacy of their decorative carving. You can see some examples on my web site.

The most comprehensive list of Jewish cemeteries and other Jewish heritage sites in Ukraine is the downloadable survey overseen by the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad.

ACE Archery Center, Skudai Johor

I visited this place because of my old buddy - Mark Teh.
It's been a long time I 'forget' to step in to my friend Archery Center. (N1°32.507' E103°39.568') It is located at the 6th Floor of Skudai Parade.
It's totally different from the last visited. More items to display and also more bow and arrow at most of every corner!
This Archery Center established 5 years ago, and it's the ONLY one around Johor Bahru. I wonder why peoples around here don't like this Sport?! It's because of practice? Or it's because of sports?
Most of the peoples here would prefer something to do with the men Ego....I think. :)

Some pictures to share.......

Video Interview with me in Krakow about Jewish heritage

Last summer, at the Festival of Jewish Culture in Krakow, I was interviewed for a project on the Festival that has now become an informative web site. Put together by Zach Rait, and sponsored by, among others, the Taube Foundation, it features photographs and film clips of many aspects of the Festival, as well as interviews with me and others -- ranging from Festival director Janusz Makuch to the late Chris Schwarz, who founded the Galicia Jewish Museum and, sadly, died only about a month after last year's Festival took place.

Wifi Kopitiam (Coffee Shop) at Tmn Molek, Johor Bahru

I was about to take my breakfast at my usual place - the Wifi Kopitiam (The first & the only around this area), I saw the local authorities 'Swept" away the illegal hawker around the corner.

Yes, very fast! Only takes 10 minutes!
They are many hawkers around Johor Bahru are illegally put up their stalls for business. Some of that really create inconvenience for transport passing......but some of it hide it at the back alley.
