Xian Ding Wei Taiwanese Tea House at Auto City Juru, Butterworth.

Had our Chinese New Year dinner (2012) at this Xian Ding Wei Taiwanese Restaurant (N5.33822 E100.42877) at Juru Auto City few months ago. The restaurant is spacious and comfort with 2 storey which located next to Standard And Chartered Bank Juru Auto City.

Xian Ding Wei Taiwanese Tea House (Ground Floor)

Xian Ding Wei Taiwanese Tea House (Upper Floor aka M Floor)

I like the environment which was quiet and cozy, especially the friendly staffs of the restaurant...we ordered their recommendation...the Fatt Choy Special package (for 4 persons) that offered during the CNY period.

The package included...
*  Fried Fish Fillet in Sweet & Sour Sauce (糖醋五柳鱼)
*  Prawns in Sweet Fermented Rice Wine (酒酿干烧鲜虾)
*  Taiwanese Supreme Chicken in 3 Varieties of Sauce (三杯鸡)
*  Braised Pork Knuckle with Slice Bamboo Shoot (竹笋猪脚)
*  Stir Fried French Bean with Minced Pork (干扁四季豆)
And I added my Favorite :- *  Xiao Long Bao (Dumpling) (小龙包)

Fried Fish Fillet in Sweet & Sour Sauce (糖醋五柳鱼)

Prawns in Sweet Fermented Rice Wine (酒酿干烧鲜虾)

Taiwanese Supreme Chicken in 3 Varieties of Sauce (三杯鸡)

Braised Pork Knuckle with Slice Bamboo Shoot (竹笋猪脚)

Stir Fried French Bean with Minced Pork (干扁四季豆)

Xiao Long Bao (Dumpling) (小龙包)

All dishes tasted above average.
The Xiao Long Bao was not as good as 'Ding Tai Feng' that I had it before, but it's alright...Most of the taste of dishes above seem like localized to suite the customers around the area... unlike the Authentic Taiwanese food we had it at Taiwan.

We also had the Mango Snowflake and Green Tea Snowflake for dessert after the dinner....those different and special snowflake we ever try in Malaysia! Nice!

Mango Snowflake

Green Tea Snowflake

The Damage : RM252.00 for 4 adults and 1 kid including A Pot of Pu Er Tea. It was justify with the restaurant environment and the foods they served.
Not bad anyway...

Northam Beach Cafe at Penang Island

The Northam Beach Cafe (N5 25.695 E100 19.368) is located at Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah (Northam Road) of Penang Island. And it's also situated beside the Famous Gurney Drive.

We visit the Northam Beach Cafe (actually it's a food court which beautify with the name Cafe) often because of the environment and we can taste all the Penang Delicacies in One food court. The foods might not the Best in Penang, but it's save a lot of our traveling time to visit the individual food stall spread around in the island. Maybe this is the reason that make the place Always crowded! (we waited for almost 15 minutes for table)

Look at the Crowded food court

There are many tables just along the seaside is our Favorite area! But it always FULL! The line of lights in the background was from the mainland - Butterworth.

Our favorite dining area, along the coastal

Beside the local delicacies, you can also find some delicious foods from Italy, France and other places in this food court. You name it, they have it!

The Food stalls at Northam Beach Cafe

We will definitely won't miss the local foods and we did tried on the France Bread. It was Yummy! All the foods sell here are just normal price like other area in Penang.

The France Bread

We intended to stay more longer at the food court but too bad...the rain chased us away that evening...

Do drop by if you happen in that area, you might like some of the foods in the Cafe. :)

Chung Ling High School 25th Anniversary Reunion (1985)

The Event was held on 10th & 11th September 2010 at Chung Ling High School for 2 days. It was organized by the group of students from year 1985, 25 years after they left the school.

Chung Ling High School at Penang

History of Chung Ling High School, Penang :-
"In 1915, members of the Union Tan Sin Cheng, Khoo Beng Cheang, Chee Yong Aik, Lim Joo Teik and Khaw Seng Lee and others expressed a resolution to establish a school. It was named “Chung Ling School” at the suggestion of Chee.
The school was inaugurated on February 9, 1917, occupying the upper storey of the Penang Philomathic Union, with an enrolment of 81 and a staff of three. The first principal was Mr Goh Ah Long.
The enrolment had increased to 130 by 1918, and 65 Macalister Road was purchased with the funds raised by the Union members, to be used as classrooms and hostels. Chung Ling High School was formally established on January 20, 1923. The formation of the high school allowed primary school students to continue their lower-secondary studies in the school. Soon the enrolment was again outgrown the classroom capacity, and a shop to the left of the premise was rented. The Lim Trustee later donated funds to build two classrooms at the site. In a 1931 joint-effort, the Chung Ling Old Boys’ Association raised funds for the extension of the classrooms, while the Board of Directors sponsored the modification of the aft corridor into rooms. The government extended assistance in 1932, renovating the lower storey of the left wing into science laboratories, while the lower storey of the right wing was made a library. In addition, shop No. 63 was rented to create additional classrooms..." For more, please click here.

Everyone were gather at the canteen that day around 3pm. Where many of them saw many familiar faces and also many un-familiar faces, because some of them not even meet after school for 25 years! Haha!

The arrival of Mr Lee Lai Hock - cycling from Sungai Petani to Penang.
(I like his spirit Very much!)

After saying 'Hi' to each of them, everyone was searching for their familiar area within the school...

The canteen. Expanded to double size...

The familiar rows of classroom

The familiar back alley of the school

The familiar corridors...

After a while, the school bell rang?! Oh! Games began...(not back to class, ok?)
Those Big Boys suddenly jump into the field and play some Maradona action! This was Really went well with the Theme - Back to School! Then I realized why the ambulance was 'stand-by' beside...it was all because of the Big Boys (43 years old) in the field! Haha!

Luckily, nobody was being rescue by the ambulance even after the game finished. Everyone was Healthy enough! No Heart Attack! :)

Beside the Maradona action, there was also a Tele-match next to the soccer field, matches were play by family members. Where you can find all the joyful moment in the field! I was attracted by the actions within the Tele-match...:)

The non-stop laughing moment brought them back to year 1985...

It was The Rejuvenation Moment! Haha!

Some want to Shake...

But he said : "Hold On!"

Some fall like a kid...

The first day event was went smoothly and felt like riding through the Time Machine! Everyone acted like a teenage and back to year 1985! Haha!

The canteen was open for everyone later, and you can eat and drink as much as you can! Let you taste the foods you had it since 25 years ago...but definitely all the foods standard improved!

The Chung Ling High School 25th Anniversary Reunion (year 1985) event was planed and organized by a group of committee members lead by their Chairman. They started to call and trying hard to contact all students who spread everywhere in the world since few months ago. Without their effort, there will be No Reunion on the day!

Some of the committee members...the heros behind...

Follow by the Reunion Dinner on the next day 11th September 2010 at the school main hall. I will blog about it in my next post.

Padang Brown Lok Lok, Penang

Padang Brown Lok Lok  (N5 24.861 E100 19.003)
My last visit here was about 10 years ago! My parents like to bring me here when I was a kid...during that time, everyone at Penang just named it The Padang. And I only realised this time the area called "Padang Brown", I believe the Restaurant on Penang Hill was named from the same person 'David Brown'. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

The Padang Brown Hawker Center of Penang

We were having our lunch here after the Qing Ming Festival. I missed the Lok-lok very much, and I felt comfortable and enjoy having the lok-lok even under the hot sunny day! :)

The Lok-Lok

The empty table was fill up in a minutes! And it has everything on the table...

"Lok Lok is similar to a steamboat where fresh food is skewered on bamboo sticks and cooked in a pot of boiling water, dip into the special sauce and you are in for a great time trying 30 over different varieties. For example fresh clam, cuttlefish, fish ball, sea snail, jelly fish." Source from here.

Beside the foods, I also love the chili sauce very much! Which mixed with dark sweet sauce which I cannot find elsewhere at Johor.

The Chili and the Dark Sweet Sauce for the Lok Lok
Some photos of the Lok Lok...

Spring roll with crab meat

The Jelly Fish

Beside the Lok Lok, I also ordered the Penang Assam Laksa. And surprisingly, it was delicious! Almost the same standard as the Famous Ayer Itam Assam Laksa!

The Damage for the Penanag Padang Lok Lok : MYR55.00 included drinks for 4 adults and 1 child. My stomach was full and it last me until 10pm dinner! Haha!
